The customer service isn't exceptional, but it's adequate. This is a respectable car company, one of the few remaining in an industry often marked by dishonesty. The staff were nice and helpful. The car was nice and clean. But we did experience over 40mins of delay before the car became available.

The main problem was at the new LAX rental center. This place is massive, and not so easy to find where you need to go without someone giving you directions. But the real problem was with Avis staffing and car management. There were only two agents at the desk, both who were amazing in dealing with the stress, but the line move so slow - it took 30 minutes to process all of 6 or 7 rentals in front of me. And then when my rental was processed, I was asked to sit and wait while they found a car for me. Another 30 minutes. And then when I was assigned a car in a spot, I went to that spot and there was no car. So I went to the counter down in the parking area, and a very nice attendant went and found me a car. Took her two tries, but she did find one, changed my paperwork, and I left the rental center almost 90 min after arriving. If this was at a super high volume time I would understand a little more, but this was 9pm on a Wednesday evening. Again, the staff was doing the best they could, and everyone was very professional and working very hard, best I could tell. This is a management issue plane and simple. Maybe the LAX rental center is to blame. Don't know, I was renting for a one way to get to Bakersfield the next morning to pick up another vehicle, but had I just finished a 12 hour (or longer ) international trip, gone through baggage claim and customs, waited for and taken the shuttle to the rent center only to wait another hour + to get my car, it would have been hard not to lose it. To everyone's credit that night, despite some tears and clear expressions of frustration, the renters and the rental car employees kept things civil. I don't pretend to understand the challenges at these mega rental centers, but the one at LAX seems to be a disaster. I'll avoid it as much as I can. And for Avis's part, I can only guess that they had their part in it, too. We rent from Avis often times because my wife's employer has a corp account with special pricing, but the service is always hit and miss. Its a tough biz……...

I was charged twice because the first payment didn’t go through on hertz end but did go through on my banks end. Had to have money transferred to make a second transaction for it to go through hertz end. The car I reserved was not provided to and was provided a small car which was not what I asked for. I had to upgraded to a different car and was charged additional because the vehicle was priced higher. The car was not cleaned and the representative didn’t even show us where the car was we had to search for it ourselves nor was I shown how to put the car in drive, reverse or park. I had to figure it out myself. This location had poor service and took 3hrs to pick up the vehicle. I showed up at the 12pm which was my pick up scheduled time and didn’t leave the facility until 3pm, freaking ridiculous especially since it wasn’t the vehicle I reserved. Makes me not want to ever rent a car again because it is to much of a hassle.

The staff at the counter were helpful and friendly. The problem was the time it took from leaving the counter to picking up the car. We were in a line for 1.5hr and when we returned a week later the line looked similar again. I don't know what they're doing at LAX but they just need to look at how its done almost anywhere else in the world and do the same. Have never had to wait for a car like this before.

After I pre-paid and the booking was confirmed via text, I received a call from the counter at the budget location to let me know that they don’t have any cars. Fine, but the next frustration was they said they couldn’t cancel the reservation themselves and told me I had to call customer service and relay the fact that there were no cars. Why can’t the person at the counter cancel it themselves? When I called customer service I of course had to explain the whole situation and I ended the call feeling anxious. It’s frustrating that you are allowed to book a car online when they don’t actually have the inventory. It should not be this hard.

First 2 vehicles given to us needed oil changes (we were about to drive 3600 miles) - check in counter people very unfriendly and uncooperative. Third vehicle was not what we reserved but had to take it anyway. Seemed like we were on a third world backwater instead if LAX. Took over 2 hours for us to be on our way at 2:30 AM. Took involvement of manager yo straighten it out and even he was having difficulty. Very poor performance by all.

There is a huge disconnect between what Kayak sells/offers versus what is truly provided by the rental car companies. The class of vehicles between third party providers and rental companies needs to be reviewed and validated. Using Kayak I requested the more expensive 12-passenger van class but was provided the smaller/cheaper minivan from Thrifty Rental Car. Each party blaming each other for the mistake while the customer suffers. Will definitely never recommend either. I deserve a refund.

Someone needs to put on a separate site that your website NEVER honors the car that is being advertised and it’s always some different type of car that is supposedly similar to the car in the picture advertised. Maybe a website that is viewed anytime a person tries to rent a car through Kayak that is not the car they will receive. Also, it was over a hour wait to get the car when we first showed up on property.

My booking was not honored because the site I used was from HongKong and my driver's license is from Canada. I have never heard of this. At LAX, the counter told me that I had to request for a cancellation through qeeq via email, and told me they would book one through her system. It was x3 the price. I have not been able to cancel through qeeq. One of the worst car rental experiences I have had. I do not recommend Dollar nor qeeq. It seems like fraud.

I dropped off my vehicle at 5:15am at LAX rental center. There was one employee a couple of cars ahead of me She said I can go if there was no damage. I accidentally left the keys in my pocket. I realized this at the airport and gave them to the dollar shuttle driver to get them back. At the airport I saw that they charged me $500 for the keys. No tried to contact me and obviously I had the keys. I was still at the rental center when my car was checked in. I tried multiple times to call the rental office at LAX. The phone rings three times then hangs up. I wrote a complaint to them. Two days later and the charge is still on my credit card. The fact that it is impossible to speak to anyone is so infuriating.

There wasn’t a car there even though it said there was availability and wasted my entire families time - we drove to 2 locations across town looking for a car. The employees were so apologetic and courteous - nothing they could do :(

Got a car after waiting longer than an hour for it as the process is totally manual - calling the dispatcher to locate a car I ordered days before (who really saved the day and did a fantastic job in balancing out the incompetence of process and the don’t care attitude of the front desk person). When I got the car it was on empty - what the heck? I then ended up paying 340$ on top of the 170$ I had signed up for - never again!

My rental car reservation was cancelled by the company, which I found out when I landed and was getting off the plane. They had no other cars to offer me, so I was extremely unpleased with this company. Will never use them again.

What I liked: Despite it being a very trying time, the manager/owner showed compassion and kindness when my rental reservation had the incorrect pickup time and I did not have the extra funds to restart the rental. God truly moved on their heart — they dropped the fees and helped me when I really needed it. This was happening while my brother was hospitalized dealing with health issues, so their support meant more than they know. I am extremely grateful and can never thank them enough for stepping in during a time of need. I was extra careful to follow all protocols they saw my questions concerning the rental and was extra kind to easy my thoughts. I would rent again! What I didn’t like: I only wish they were open on weekends, as that would have made things a little easier just in returning home. Other than that, everything went smoothly even how to return the car.
