Pick up was easy tho they really pushed additional insurance that I had already purchased. Car was nice a BMW X1. They didn’t advise on how the GPS worked. Tried to Nav and worked intermittently and even home changed language it was still hit or miss on what we would hear if it worked.

The guy behind The desk threatened me with over 10000 USD invoives If I don't take his insurance with 2-3000 USD self coverage. I did show him receipt that I already have insurance (taken at the time of reservation, with full coverage). BUT he just continued pushing and threatening. If I would not have been experienced travellel and refused, he would have charged 150 USD for nothing! EXTREMELY poor behaviour!!! Never again.

We booked a small car, Opel Corsa or similar and they had a Corsa in the lot and two Lacia Yipsilon but they gave us a crossover vehicle called DR which was very large and extremely slow which made going up and down hulls practically dangerous as the car barely made it. For paying so much and not getting anything close to what we ordered felt lile we got a bait and switch from the company. Upon return of the vehicle the office was closed so there was no one to explain this to. Ended up being charged over $200 for less than 24 hours for a vehicle that nearly got us into an accident due to its poor functionality.

I reserved two rental cars under my name back in April at pretty good rates.....when I got there for the pickup in Florence they told me that I couldn't do that....so had to put under my wife's name at the "day of" rate which was almost $1000 more. I shouldn't have to pay for the inadequacies of their systems. They should have given me the promised rate.

First of all, we were quoted around 500 Euro for the largest car they had for 5 people with 7 suitcases and 5 personal sized bags, which looked plenty adequate. (We realize cars aren’t that big in Florence IT, but we had a picture of what we booked). Instead, (of course) there were no such cars on the lot and we were given a medium SUV which was not big enough for all 5 of us AND our luggage! We crammed everyone and every bag in (on laps etc). All done and said, it was 1100 Euro with taxes, insurance for dings, accidents, window chips etc. When we got to the car, not only was it small, it was heavily damaged with huge dents and scrapes. We certainly didn’t need the supreme insurance for that piece of junk. In hindsight (if we weren’t in a hurry), we should’ve demanded a different car or taken the supreme insurance off and gotten bare minimum for an accident only. My suggestion- don’t ever rent a car in Italy! Trying to drive in their cities is stressful and dangerous! Most of the Tuscan cities don’t allow non residents to park in parking spots so it’s best to park outside the city and walk in. We would take a taxi or Uber next time. We actually drove into Florence, and it was so crazy busy and we couldn’t find parking and drove right back out and went to Siena instead.

I booked an Avis car from Florence to San Remo to drive on 30 May through Kayak and when I went to pick up the car, Avis told me that San Remo Avis would be closed and there was no key drop so I could not take the car. They recommended taking the train but I would have to wait 4 hours until the next train. I changed my destination to the next closest city but it was still an hour away from San Remo and then I had to book a train. Probably the worst experience of this international trip. I will likely not book through Kayak again since you don’t know when the offices are open and closed and if they have key drops.

our flight was cancelled. We could not contact them. Avis took the opportunity the next day to charge ridiculous rates for the smallest vehicles. We went to another provider and were provided with the requested size at near the earlier quoted rate. I will not use a third party provider again. If not direct avis does not care.

This was one of the easiest and most pleasant car rental I've ever had. And I've had hundreds in the US. The first car we drove away was a manual transmission. When we got to our destination, we discovered that we had very steep hills and hairpin turns to navigate. And it was raining. Drivalia allowed us to exchange cars and sent us happily on our way. The 2nd car was Kia and fantastic. The drop off couldn't have been simpler either...just drop the keys and go!

Terrible experience. The assistant who helped us was lovely and professional, very on the ball. Unfortunately a two hour wait is not acceptable nor is it fair to workers to not have a break. You have to get staffing balanced to your reservation quantity! We were offended by your male employee when we asked why he let two young ladies cut the line (after nearly two hours in line) . He said that we weren't the police and went on to give the ladies his number and share his hang outs. Chit chat chit chat. We comprehend the cultural differences while travelling or the simple fact that people flirt. Maybe someone could educate him to consider elderly and children who waited while his colleagues did their jobs in double time. It's an arrogant and unprofessional behavior that alienates clients and colleagues

I am disappointed with kayak because they quoted me a price. On their website and when I arrived to to Europcar I received a different quote. They informed me it was because I had booked to drop the car off at a military base, which I had no idea I had done. I was quoted 55$ or so by kayak and when I got to Europcar I had to pay 160$. I would like some sort of reimbursement from kayak for this mistake.
