Waited in line for, quite literally, an hour to pickup the rental car. All other rental car agencies had no line as they were quick to serve. Only Avis had a long line of frustrated customers. Despite requesting an SUV I was provided a pickup truck which was disappointing.

My original request specifically asked for 7, due to needing room for 4 adults. 2 baby seats and of course luggage for 6 people. The car I was given was “same” class. Not sure how things are “classed” grouped together. , but we had already had an interesting conversation on the coverage on the car. I was treated like “you should read”. Let me tell you. After spending an incredible amount on insurance and given to see that you can’t fit with your family and luggage, it’s falling out the back. Had it stacked where we couldn’t see out the back window. Finally put two bags in with passengers. Since we did everything on the internet, which your website kept asking for the car rental fee, like starting from scratch. I thought I could resolve it at the desk, but agent really couldn’t understand that I was puzzled on another window that popped up as I was attempting to complete. If I was going to buy insurance, if I understood your website, since I was told to “read” your website and that’s all that mattered. Running out of space. I would never rent again. I called an UBER. That sent a car large enough . UBER has my vote.

We rented from chicago airport agreeing to return at Milwaukee. I explicitly asked the staff to confirm the return location at Milwaukee will be open at 4-5pm. Then I was surprised, the location was closed and no instructions for overnight return, no one answering calls at Hertz. I ended up returning at the next closest location which is the Milwaukee airport. Then I get a surprise bill of $450 instead of the negotiated rate of $160 on July 6. I am working to charge back that transaction with the credit card company. Hertz doesn't answer customer service calls anyway.

They added hidden fees and charged me for gas even though I had returned the tank with more than I left it with. You expect to pay a premium with Hertz so that you don’t have to deal with chasing their customer service. It is truly useless to have a smooth pickup process if it means that you’ll have to track them down later because they charged you the price you paid ahead of time over in fees. Very disappointing.

Terrible. The car smelled like marijuana when I got in and I did not have the time to go back to try to rent something else. Then when I dropped the car off at another airport, the attendant was nowhere near the car and just shouted for me to leave the keys on the seat. Weeks later I received a bill in the mail for $600 for windshield damage that never happened. Upon speaking to someone from Budget, she couldn’t even find record of my car being turned in…but somehow they were able to claim that there was windshield damage? It’s now been weeks and they automatically charged my care for the damage and said if I am not found to be liable they will reverse the charge. A terrible way to run a business and that is the first and last time I will rent from them.

Everything about my experience felt average, but the most frustrating part about it was the USB cable connection for the front seat. It is far too sensitive and disconnects easily. It is likely a faulty or damaged port. The pickup while on cruise control is unsafely slow.

They did not have a car for me when I got to the airport. My flight was changed to a 10 pm arrival instead of 1200. I called Budget at midway and was assured I’d have a car. None was arrived when I arrived and their was no reassurance I would get one .

Not satisfactory experience . ( pretty sure that this review will go into a void) Cars were overbooked. The online reservations did not match the actual vehicle inventory. I was in line for over an hour to be seen. I rented an intermediate SUV, but they only had large pickup trucks. I took the offer. The check- in staff was professional and friendly given the circumstances. They provided a fuel credit due to the inconvenience. The pickup was too big for my needs. Difficult to maneuver. Many of the features that should be available on a large vehicle were not equipped or programmed, especially the parking technology. My car lacked wrap- around cameras to assist parking, proximity warnings when close to objects, or back up warnings. The back- up camera was imprecise. I had no functional trunk. My drop-off experience was poor. It was Easy to drop off. One agent was friendly and helpful. The other public- facing agents were uncaring or rude. My agent barely spoke to me and didn't ask basic questions about returning the vehicle. Offered no assistance. I also had bad experience with staff in preferred member area. Five minutes after returning car, I realized that I had missing items. The friendly return agent directed me to the desk agent. The desk agent was openly dismissive and rude to me . Suggested that that my reason for checking the car was not important. She was dismissive and didn't want to offer help. This is not an exaggeration. This experience makes me less likely to rent a vehicle from this vendor at that location.

One of the tires had low air pressure when I picked it up, feels like something they should've handled before giving me the car. Overall, good experience with the car itself.

It is more what I did not like. The vehicle, a Jeep SUV, had no interior lights that worked when you opened the doors. But worse of all the tail lights did not work at night! That was dangerous and shows a lack of maintenance care by Payless. I was not happy.

Payless had a very smooth process with kind and friendly people, the car was very clean and in great condition. When I returned it, however, the person who marked the car as returned did not check whether I had filled the car up with gas (I had filled the car up with gas) and charged me for not doing it. The customer service team has been very helpful in getting that false charge removed. Would recommend Payless

Everything was very confusing at pickup and drop off. The cars are collocated with Avis and Budget but the people and information are not. No instructions in my booking email, and poor signage at the O’Hare car rental facility meant that my wife and I wasted precious time wandering around searching for answers.
