Which electric car rental companies in Auckland have electric vehicle locations?

Based on ratings and reviews from real users on KAYAK, Go Rentals (10.0, 2 reviews), Sixt (8.0, 5 reviews) and Thrifty (7.6, 13 reviews) operates the most EV-ready rental locations in Auckland. I booked a Prius from EZU (Auckland airport branch) through Kayak. What EZU provided was a Toyota Aqua, smaller than a Prius but also a hybrid. That was fine by me as I was travelling alone. I was picked up and dropped off at the airport in reasonable time. The car already had scratches on the hubcaps but this was duly noted and posed no problem on return. The car was otherwise clean and gave me no problems. I was disappointed that the handbook was in Japanese - EZU should obtain English language versions. The staff were efficient and pleasant to deal with.

We booked a one way rental. While there was a budget rental office at the Auckland airport only the downtown office did one way rentals. When we booked we were told there was a shuttle from the airport. This was definitely not true and we had to pay $180nzd and take a 30 minute drive to get to the budget rental office. That was a very unpleasant surprise after flying around the world with three young kids! I will avoid budget in the future because of that.

Much better than the Kia small SUV we rented the other portion of our trip. That car was terrible. The sprayers on the left wipers came in handy, but the gear shift was a bit tricky to use. Safety measures were very obvious, sometimes annoying, but overall helpful. The only real.negative was around navigation - the built in nav is the worst and most useless I've ever seen in a car. We mostly used Android Auto and it worked great via Bluetooth 90% of the time. But one of the days it just stopped working and wouldn't connnect, no.matter what we tried. Eventually, after a stop, it randomly started working again. Overall it handled well, got good gas mileage and provided plenty of room.
