Side is a historic town with narrow roads and many tourists, so you'll probably find it easier to drive a small car. For instance, a Peugeot 208 is an excellent option for tight roads and parking spots. However, if you plan to take your vehicle out into the countryside, you should consider something more robust, as it can get very hilly. For example, a Nissan Juke offers better handling on poor roads and enhanced grip for steep terrains.

It’s important that you stay within the speed limit when driving your rental car in Side, or you will receive a fine from authorities. For instance, on motorways, you cannot drive faster than 120 km/h, whilst on other rural roads, the limit is 90 km/h. When you’re in Side or other towns, you must lower your speed to a max of 50 km/h. Also, be aware that speed cameras are common in Turkey. They use both fixed and mobile cameras, so stay within the limits.

There are lots of places for you to park your car in Side. For example, you can park for free at Side Ataturk Stadi Otoparki, off Adnan Menderes Boulevard. From here, it is only a short walk to the beach and also the town centre. Alternatively, Otopark on 608 Sk also has free parking and is close to the seafront. You can also park at Terminal Parking Lot on Sorgun Boulevard. This car park gives you the first 25min free of charge. At the other end of Side Beach, there is also an area of free parking on Deniz Cd, about a 5min walk from the seafront.
